Our first consultation was a telephone call on a rare weekend when Emily & Nik were in the same country, just not in the UK! We planned the outline of the flowers for their wedding by email until we finally met and I admit I was a little nervous but they were just as wonderfully, warm and relaxed as I had envisaged and thankfully they were thrilled to have booked me! So we waited patiently and finally September arrived and wow what a super gorgeous wedding it was. Here is the stunning bride getting ready to meet her groom.
Emily & Nik both studied at Oxford University and chose the Bodleian Library for their wedding; a beautiful, historic building close to their hearts and a place where they had both spent many an hour.
We cannot thank Oxford MT Studio Photography enough for sharing their images, their work is simply some of the very best we have seen. So many magical moments have been captured beautifully.
I don’t think words will add anything, these images say it all…..
Ok so I will indulge a little of my storytelling by filling you in on the flower brief. Emily was keen to have a soft color palette of cream, blush pink and pale/dusky blue with accents of lavender. She wanted the flowers to be very natural and a little wild but definitely not structured, oh how we loved working with these seasonal blooms. We suggested some garden style roses, scabious, delphinium, lysimachia, lavender and some eryngium for the dusky blue together with an array of textured foliage.
Oh and there is a story about the buttonholes - I am not ordinarily a fan of carnations but Nik specifically requested them as they are a symbolic flower for Solvenia. Of course “it’s your wedding” I was heard to say “and you should have exactly what you want but red maybe a step too far, how about white” ……. I think and I hope we managed to create something beautiful, it may have even changed my mind about carnations!
The wedding reception was held in the beautiful dining room at the Lady Margaret Hall which was Emily & Nik’s College. In addition to the floral runner for the top table, we positioned lots of simple but elegant bud vases and bottles of flowers on all of the guest tables.
It has been a joy working for Emily & Nik and we have so loved looking at all the wonderful images; it’s clear how much fun everyone had and how perfectly happy Emily & Nik are together.
Huge congratulations to you both, we wish you every happiness as your continue on your new and exciting journey.
Much love, Joules & the girls xxx
